Online Affiliate Marketing News for Saturday September 26, 2007

September 27th, 2009 | Posted in Affiliate Income, Affiliate Marketing, Blog Traffic, Business, Make Money, Online Income, Pay Per Click Affiliate Programs, Recommended Blogs, Reviews, make money online

Successfully Online Affiliate Marketing requires cultivating skills like Search Engine Optimization (SEO), finding affiliate programs to market, and creating successful online affiliate marketing campaigns. Many online affiliate marketing gurus produce websites and blogs that rocket your start into marketing. We have searched the internet and brought you stories to help you make more money with online affiliate marketing.

Shawn Collins provides insights into producing a Multi-Brand Niche Affiliate Program
Shawn Collins’s Affiliate Tip site is one of my favorite marketing blogs. Shawn has been a successful online affiliate marketing guru for many years. One of Shawn’s most recent posts bring readers information about creating a multi-brand niche affiliate program. Shawn brings readers a video of Stephanie Schwab, Vice President, Converseon’s presentation from Affiliate Summit East 2009. Shawn states, “This case study will provide solid examples of what to do (and what not to do) when promoting a niche program and building a multi-brand program, including all of the affiliate tools and resources used for SEAN, recruiting tips, communications materials, and stats and conversion rates.” (Building a Multi-Brand Niche Affiliate Program, 2009).

Straight Talk on Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be very confusing, especially for online affiliate marketing newbies. Shawn has posted another presentation from Affiliate Summit East 2009. Shawn describes this presentation as:

“Brief presentation on Search Engine Optimization with a heavy focus on Q&A. A very open, honest and straight to the point discussion about search engines that covers some common myths and will leave you with some information and action items as it relates to search and your business.” (Straight Talk on Search Engine Optimization, 2009)

How To Become Blogging Ninja
I have to admit that I began reading this article because of the title. After all “Blogging for Ninjas” brings forth pictures of men in little black suits running around my keyboard ensuring that my blog will be a success. Of course, those pictures are not at all the author’s intent. Miguel Wickert’s blog provides some valuable insights into the level of work a successful blog requires and things you can do to become a blogging ninja. For example, Wicker drives home the importance of learning by doing by saying, “…we can read the best books on writing or swimming but if you never actually practice writing/swimming as often as possible, guess what? You won’t perform, impress, grow or learn to teach others.” (How To Become Blogging Ninja, 2009)

Link Building Campaign With Article Marketing
Since I began blogging, article marketing has caught my attention. My love of writing brought me to blogging. Article marketing plays directly to my love of writing. I get to write more articles and submit them to blog directories.  ThouShallBlog offers a great explanation of article marketing and how it produces quality backlinks. ThouShallBlog stated, “Writing articles remains one of the best ways to drive targeted traffic to your site, and increase more sales.” (Link Building Campaign with Article Marketing, 2009)

For anyone new to online affiliate marketing, the internet provides a wealth of information. These are just a few online affiliate marketing articles that were published this week. We have chosen the ones that provide information any new online affiliate marketing professional needs to know. Please take a moment and subscribe to our blog. We will routinely bring you new articles to explode your online affiliate marketing earnings.

PPC advertising networks grant the platform to identify the desired audience by geographic setting, topic and industry. These networks have a list of websites of the publishers where the ads will be placed.

Tools are bestowed by the networks to check how the pay per click limit’s working for a certain advertiser. If its still competitive, would it be even listed among the paid search lists or does it generate sales? Good thing if your product or service would not disappoint those that are relying on your ad’s promise – but what if it did otherwise? Important too is the clarity of the ad. Do not utilise very vague languages. Include crucial details like the price.

You should similarly do not forget to budget your bids. Do not go overbidding because you will only lose your money and don’t go so low that your ads will never get the chance to show up. Check your profit against your spending. If you see no progress then most probably you have to drop your ad campaign. More and more advertisers have been utilizing PPC advertising and it’ll continue to grow quicker than any online advertising techniques. From revenues of $2.6 billion in 2004 to $5.5 billion in 2009, cost per click will dramatically go up as well from $0.29 to $0.36.

Social Networking May Overcome Keywords In Online Affiliate Marketing

September 12th, 2009 | Posted in Affiliate Income, Affiliate Marketing, Blog Traffic, Business, Copywriting, Make Money, Online Income, Pay Per Click Affiliate Programs, Reviews, SEO, Social Networking, make money online

Thousands of blogs, books, e-books, and forums are dedicated to Search Engine Optimication (SEO). Successful online affiliate marketing has required learning how to optimize your webpages for search engines. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) required looking at what keywords you are targeting, how many times they are used, and building pages that agreed with the search engine algorithms. Rumblings indicate that social networking may make keywords irrelevant for successful online affiliate marketing.

Google wants to make keywords irrelevant for all advertisers, including online affiliate marketing. Rebecca Lieb recently reported on a speech given by the head of Google Adwords, Nikki Fox. Lieb reported, “That’s right: Google wants to build your ads for you. Are we looking at a world with no more keyword bidding, no more Excel spreadsheets with keyword and keyword phrase groups, no more bid management? Possibly” (Keywords Out, Networks In, 2009). A very interesting concept. It would take some work to ensure that corporate and online affiliate marketing advertisers would be fairly represented.

Social media guru Charlene Li also spoke at Search Engine Strategies. She also spoke about the potential for keywords to take a much smaller role in search engines.  Lieb reports, “Li’s view of the future is one in which social networks are “like air,” and search becomes inextricably coupled with what she calls social-graphic targeting, which is based on your behavior with the other people in your network. (Social network analysis is another not-far-off term for this method of targeting.)” (Keywords Out, Networks In, 2009)

Charlene Li’s statements enforce a statement made by sales guru Zig Ziglar, “people buy from people they trust”. Keyword based online affiliate marketing created sales by generating large amounts of traffic from search engines. Eventually, you would find someone willing to buy. Highly successful online affiliate marketers have long recognized the importance of trust. Many successful bloggers found that large incomes required email lists, offering free products, or giving away ebooks that linked back to their sites. These are all forms of building trust with potential customers of your online affiliate marketing products.

Death of keyword based searches may not spell the end of online affiliate marketing. On the contrary, it may offer individuals an advantage in online affiliate marketing. Social networking is being recognized by corporations. However, corporations are still a faceless entity. Building lasting trusts requires putting a face and a name in front of potential customers. Online affiliate marketing allows individuals to recommend products and focus their branding around themselves. One these individual online affiliate marketers are seen as authorities then people will trust their recommendations and buy from them. Success in online affiliate marketing may require spending less time on Search Engine Optimization and more time building your social networks.

The Death of Keywords?
Webmaster Radio published a podcast by Andrew Goldman on the potential death of keyword in online affiliate marketing. Webmaster Radio describes the podcast as, “Andrew Goodman discuss the possible changes of keywords in PPC Campaigns, based on comments made during the keynote of Nicholas Fox at SES San Jose 2009, plus some blog posts written by Goodman stating The keyword long tail is dead.”

Performance Marketing Alliance Challenges New York’s Affiliate Marketing Tax

September 10th, 2009 | Posted in Affiliate Income, Affiliate Marketing, Business, Make Money, Online Income, Pay Per Click Affiliate Programs, make money online

I always find it funny that many politicians’ belief the way out of a recession is new taxes. You do not have to have a Ph.D. in Economics to realize that people with less money will spend less. As people spend less then less products are sold. When less products are sold, companies begin to layoff workers. Anyway, that is the cycle, whether politicians choose to believe it or not. New York State followed this great tradition by levying new taxes against online affiliate marketers.

Online affiliate marketing was one of the last vestiges of true capitalism. Online affiliate marketers were online salespeople. They made companies (i.e. Amazon, etc.) to advertise their products. In return, the companies would provide the online affiliate marketers with a commission check. Online affiliate marketer commissions were one of the last types of income that government did not directly tax. Do not get me wrong, the government still got part of this money. When online affiliate marketers bought products, put gas in their car, invested the money, or even died then the government got their piece.

Several state legislature was not content with waiting for online affiliate marketers to pay these embedded taxes. These legislatures decided they wanted to tax online affiliate marketers directly. Clickbank reported, “In late June, Amazon terminated its marketing affiliate program in North Carolina after a new law took effect that will tax affiliate sales, and on July 1, Overstock.com notified affiliates in Hawaii, North Carolina and Rhode Island that it would immediately cease doing business with them because of similar new tax laws” (ClickBank Stands by Affiliate Marketers Despite New Tax Laws, 2009).

Amazon was one of the largest retailers to begin cancelling their online affiliate marketers. Amazon decided that it was not worth the hassle to deal with these new taxes. Instead, they just notified their online affiliate marketers that because of their state laws they would not longer be able to work. It makes sense to me. We are in the middle of a recession so pass a tax that costs more jobs. Ok, that logic only makes sense to politicians.

Performance Marketing Alliance is fighting for online affiliate marketers everywhere. In a blow for online affiliate marketers everywhere, Performance Marketing Alliance filed an amicus brief with the New York State Supreme Court. In his Affiliate Marketing Blog, Shawn Collins reports:

“The brief explains that affiliates provide a form of Internet-based advertising that is closely analogous to traditional print advertisements distributed by a catalog retailer, and do not constitute a physical presence for an ecommerce merchant in any state. Affiliates sell no products, collect no payments from buyers and make no deliveries. They have no further involvement in the sales and marketing process beyond posting the advertisement.”

The brief maintains that the statute harms the public interest by punishing performance marketing, a highly efficient approach to advertising which has allowed thousands to make a living through electronic advertising on the Internet. Further, the revenue stream generated from performance marketing has allowed many small businesses and individuals to accelerate the development of their Web sites, facilitating the more rapid diffusion of free information to the public that is the hallmark of the Internet” (Performance Marketing Alliance Files Amicus Brief with New York State Supreme Court, 2009).

The State of New York has until September 16, 2009 to answer this brief. My hope is that legislators, across this country, will come to their senses. Online Affiliate Marketing provides extra or full time income to thousands of people This is not the time to strangle the country’s online affiliate marketers.

September 3rd, 2009 | Posted in Affiliate Income, Affiliate Marketing, Business, Make Money, Online Income, Pay Per Click Affiliate Programs, Reviews, make money online

Affiliate_Day_AdThe world has days dedicated to just about everything. We have Earth Day, GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Day, Labor Day, Memorial Day, there is even a day dedicated to Marijuana (4/20). These days may provide useful information. Heck, some even give us a day off, however, few of these days can help us make money online. Shawn has decided to start a day dedicated to affiliate marketing.

Affiliate Marketing Day 2009 is dedicated to furthering the business of affiliate marketing. Shawn is also offering anyone who participates a chance to win prizes. To win prizes, post a Tweet using hashtag: #affday09 on September 14, 2009 (Affiliate Day). See Shawn’s blog for additional ways to enter.

Selling is about building relationsips. A salesperson once told me “you are asking someone to come into their home.” I had never thought about this, in relation to affiliate marketing. After all, they are on the internet. Making it crucial to build relationships with our readers and potential customers. We also need to build relationships with each other.

Affiliate marketing does not have to be approached as a cut throat business. Yes, there are hundreds of thousands of affiliate marketers earning a substantial living online. Around the world, there are millions more people attempting to earn a substantial income through affiliate marketing. Contrary to popular belief, if one affiliate marketer makes more money, it does not take away from another affiliate marketer. It brings more visibility to affiliate marketing, more advertisers will see it as a profitable option, and everyone will have a chance to make more money. Can You Make Money With Pay Per Click Affiliate Programs?

July 28th, 2009 | Posted in Affiliate Income, Affiliate Marketing, Make Money, Online Income, Pay Per Click Affiliate Programs, Recommend Sites, Reviews

Affiliate marketing has been around for years. Many of you have probably heard of the great affiliate marketers like Zac Johnson or Shoe Money. They have made hundreds of thousands of dollars marketing products online. One of the oldest affiliate marketing compensation plans is to pay a commission for each sale. There are other compensation programs such as pay per click. Pay per click affiliate programs pay you every time a visitor clicks on an ad. There are many pay per click affiliate programs. Here we review a few of the pay per click affiliate programs we have used.

Social Spark
Social spark is much more than just a pay per click affiliate program. Social spark is an affiliate program that includes some aspects of social networking. Social spark is geared for bloggers. Bloggers apply for social spark. Once approved, bloggers can choose from many different programs including pay perclick affiliate programs, pay per sale affiliate programs, pay per post offerings, and even just blog you back offerings. We have participated in Social Spark’s pay per click programs. We have been very pleased with the results.

Kontera
Kontera is a newere pay per click affiliate program. It is patterned after the business model of InLinks. Webmasters apply for Kontera. Once approved, you are given a piece of code to place in the <head> section of your website. The code then searches through your posts or pages and places links on key words. These links are place as text links. Text links have the benefit of overcoming “ad blindness”. You are also able to view daily stats. Daily stats allow you to quickly see how much you are making, where the revenue is coming from, even which keywords people clicked on.

Motive Interactive
Motive Interactive offers many different pay per click affiliate programs. You can quickly browse through a wide variety of pay per click affiliate programs. Motive Interactive’s offerings range from home business to beauty and even freebies. If pay per click affiliate programs are not your thing, you can also choose traditional pay per sale programs.

These are just three of the many pay per click affiliate programs available. Others include Commission Junction, Azoogle Ads, etc. Check out these programs and see which ones work for you. It is important to be comfortable with a program, like your affiliate manager, and get prompt service. We wish you well in all your affiliate marketing and work from home endeavors.
